The HARDI electric fuel pump is a diaphragm pump. In contrast to mechanical fuel pumps, it has its own drive (an electric motor or a magnetic coil), which ensures that the pump functions independently of the engine.
All HARDI pumps have a control concept in which the delivery rate of the pump adapts to the consumption of the engine, i.e. it pumps quickly when consumption is high, and slowly or not at all when consumption is low, thus saving electricity (flexible stroke frequency).
